AVIOR supports the work of the KAIBIGAN ERMITA OUTREACH FOUNDATION INC.
Kaibigan is active for more than twenty five years in several poor neighbourhoods of Manila. At the heart of its mission is the Educational Assitance Program (EAP). Under this program Kaibigan has for many years provided education to a group of 350-400 children that would otherwise not receive any education and be at risk of joining the many children in Metro Manila seeking to survive in the streets.
Over the years Kaibigan has evolved into a no-nonsense organization that learned the hard way what works and what does not and the organization is presently led by Ms Susan Biteng (Director) and Flor Balanze (Financial Manager) who are both former beneficiaries of the project. They are assisted by an experineced Board of Trustees.
Through experience Kaibigan developed the understanding that providing education to children alone is not sufficient to improve the chances for a better life. Children's self esteem and sense of achievement needs to rebuild for them to realize their fulest potential. For this purpose Kaibigan runs the Children Development Program (CDP).
Kaibigan also attends to the communities the supported childen live in by encouraging them to take responsibility for improvement in their own lives and neighbourhoods. Under the Community Organization Program (COP) Kaibigan develops local leaders and promotes empowerment of parents.
Kaibigan is also involved in providing opportunities and training to parents to supplement their income through the Livelihood Development Program (LDP).
Kaibigan is accredited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
